The Cynthia Quilt in Enshadow

The Cynthia Quilt in Enshadow

When I was deciding on a collection for the cover of the Cynthia Quilt Pattern, I was immediately drawn to Enshadow by Katarina Roccella. I love a good Halloween collection, and in my opinion a good Halloween collection always involves the color purple. Plus, I really love any collection that mixes in florals in unexpected ways and these are gorgeous.

One of the things I love about the Cynthia Quilt is that it gives each fabric a chance to stand on its own. The large center squares provide plenty of room to show off your prints, and the sawtooth star blocks naturally highlight differences in color, scale, and value. Enshadow has a lot of variety built into the collection, which made the fabric selection process easy. I didn’t spend much time worrying about whether fabrics would work together because the collection already does that work for you.

The alternating layout in the Cynthia Quilt creates a lot of movement across the quilt top which always makes for a fun project. As the eye moves across the quilt, different fabrics pop out depending on their color and scale.

The quilting was done by the always-fabulous Heidi of Piece and Joy Quilting. I wanted to do something Halloween related, but not too literal (no spiders please) so she helped me find a spiderweb panto that looks more like an overall design that is a little more abstract.

I’m really happy with how this version turned out, and I think Enshadow was a wonderfully purple Halloween collection. The Cynthia Quilt pattern is available in my shop and Enshadow is showing up in quilt shops now!
