The Charlotte Quilt — Grunge Colors
It probably won’t shock you to hear that I quickly ordered fabric to make a Grunge version of the Charlotte Quilt as soon as I made the mockup. I’ll be making two quilts using two different basics collections, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how different they turn out. I love making contrasting quilts — it’s such a fun way to explore how fabric choice impacts a design.
My Fabric Strategy
Below, I’m sharing a full list of the Grunge fabric colors I ordered — but fair warning: I haven’t seen them in person yet, and I may not use every single one in the final quilts. Because I don’t do anything on a small scale (and fabric availability was a little scattered), I ordered a half yard of each. That means I’ll definitely have enough leftover for another Grunge project in the future!
The pattern calls for either:
• (48) Jelly Roll strips or
• (12) Fat Quarters
I don’t have 48 different fabrics, but I do have more than 12 — so I’m planning to cut my own jelly roll strips from my half-yard cuts. It’s a great way to customize and use what I have!
Ash Rose (probably just for the binding)
Manilla (I ordered the standard width for the background fabric and the 108" wide for the Backing)
Where I Bought My Fabric
I originally ordered my fabric from Shabby Fabrics, but guess what? I later found them on sale on Etsy — so that’s where I’ll be linking them for you! The Etsy shop I found has every color in stock except for Cantaloupe, so it’s a great option if you’re building your own bundle. If I were going to order from this shop today and save myself 20%, I would just omit that color.
Stay tuned — I’ll be posting updates (and pretty fabric stacks!) on Instagram once everything arrives!

Oh My Gosh! I love Grunge, but never thought of making a quilt in all Grunge. I love your pink version. Thanks for the inspiration!
