10 Reasons Why Creatives Experience Social Media Fatigue
I'm going to be honest with you — I'm struggling lately. Over the course of running my business, there have been lots of ups and downs but overall I love what I do and have an overwhelming amount of gratitude that I get to do it.
Since I have been feeling down (and not enjoying it) I have been trying to keep track of what is triggering these feelings so I can try to do something about them and I think the root of the issue is that I'm a little burned out, especially with social media.
I put together this list of issues (all of which I am currently struggling!) and my game plan for how I intend to do better and I thought I'd share them with all of you in case you are also struggling.
And you know what? Just creating this list helped. Sometimes acknowledging the problem and planning a solution is half of the battle!

I am so glad that I read your post as it has a lot of relevance for me. While I don’t have a blog to maintain, I have realized that I’m spending way too much time on social media and I’m actually really sick of it! But it is so addicting that I have not been able to get any sewing/quilting time at all lately. I love to sew and I have been missing it so something needs to change soon. I had already started to make some changes before reading your email but realize I need to do a lot more and may even try to print out your list to help me stay on track. Thanks for taking the time to write this post today.

Great insight. I have often wondered how those of you that post content manage to get anything done. Hopefully you will be able keep your creative juices flowing.

I’m always happy when I see your blog post or entry on Instagram, but I always assume that people are living their life and sewing, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, vacuuming, etc. if they don’t have anything to post. I don’t know much about what kind of chores are involved in maintaining your small business, but I do know that people who quilt know that it takes a long time to make one. We usually set aside times to look on Instagram or check email, so why shouldn’t you limit your times also. I’ve seen a lot of social media quilters give up on creating for this very reason. I’d rather see you set limits than to quit providing us with tips, patterns, and pretty things you’ve created. Don’t let anyone let you feel guilty about wanting to have a life.

Oh this is good and so timely for me! Thanks for sharing this!
I am at the point where I spend more time scrolling and looking at what other people are doing/ creating/posting than I am doing any sewing at all! It’s overwhelming and I’m not a content creator. I need to stop spending so much time on social media and more time in my sewing room. I have already cut down the people I receive communication with to just a couple. And of course that includes you! Thanks for being honest and open about this. Really enjoy all your work.
