The Jenny Quilt in a Rainbow of Pure Solids

When I realized I could turn one of the Jenny Quilt Pattern samples into a rainbow quilt, I couldn’t resist! 🌈 I dove into my (rather large) bucket of Pure Solids and curated a cheerful rainbow of colors.

While piecing this quilt, I found myself wishing for a green shade with a bit more yellow. Imagine my excitement when, right after finishing the quilt, I received an email from AGF announcing new Pure Solids colors, including one called Clover—exactly the shade I was missing! Oh well, I guess I’ll be adding it to my collection for the next project.

Fun fact: AGF also released a new color called Dusk, which is my absolute favorite shade of purple. Thank you, AGF, for making my color dreams come true! 💜

For this version of the Jenny Quilt, I used 12 colors instead of the standard 8 fat quarters or 15 fat eighths called for in the pattern. To create a rainbow effect, I recommend using fat quarters and saving any leftovers for future projects. You’ll need to make 5 blocks in each color.

Here are the colors I used:

Sweet Pink (used for the half blocks at the top and bottom)

Quartz Pink

Grapefruit

Marmalade

Summer Sun

Empire Yellow

Jade Cream

Mirage Blue

Ocean Waves

Parisian Blue

Wisteria

Cosmos

Background Fabric: White Linen

Backing Fabric: An Art Gallery print called Nordic Knit from my stash that perfectly complements the front, even though it doesn’t match the colors exactly.

Quilting: I used a serpentine stitch, which gives the quilt the most amazing texture—my new favorite! One reason I’m considering upgrading to the Janome 6700 is its wider serpentine stitch. My current machine doesn’t include it as a standard option, so I had to program it manually.

Now I just need to make a scrappy rainbow version of this quilt!
