The August Quilt - Pink and Purple Version
It is probably indicative of when I grew up (late 80s/early 90s) but I am a huge fan of pink and purple together.
Blame it on all of those Lisa Frank stickers I had as a kid, but this combo still really gets me. After I made my rainbow version of the August Quilt, I knew I needed to make another. This time I wanted to re-use some of the colors and use a tighter range of shades.
Purple is, hands down, my favorite color so I started with the really gorgeous Eggplant Cotton Couture and worked from there.
Next I added in the bright pinks and then all of the pinks and purples in between. Finally I added in some peach shades to make it feel a little more grown up. And because I love peach, too.
Here is a full list of Cotton Couture colors that I used in my quilt:
Fabrics A & J - Orchid
Fabrics B & I - Eggplant
Fabrics C & L - Cameo
Fabrics D & N - Shell
Fabrics E & M - Jewel
Fabric F - Mauve
Fabric G - Magenta
Fabric H - Petal
Fabric K - Love
I know curves can be a little intimidating, but these curves are so gentle and quick they are nothing to be afraid of. Plus, if you haven't already checked out my Instagram stories, I added some videos about cutting and pinning curves to my highlights.
For the backing I used Gingham Play in Magenta. This is my favorite backing print lately: it is lots of fun without being too crazy. A little modern and a little traditional.
The August Quilt is pattern is available in my shop. If you make your own, make sure to use #theaugustquilt hashtag on Instagram and tag me so I can see what you made!
