Sugarplum Quilt
I knew that I wanted to make a Christmas quilt this year but there were SO many gorgeous fabric choices! After some debating, I decided to go with Heather Ross' Sugarplum collection.
One of the reasons that I decided to use this collection for a Christmas quilt was because I loved that some of the prints were available in flannel. My family loves flannel backed quilts.
These fabrics were just the best to work with. So pretty, so soft, so sweet. Especially the peppermints and the mice and the polka dots and the plaid . . .
After making this quilt I decided to write a pattern and it eventually this became my new Patti Quilt Pattern. The only difference from the pattern is that I fussy cut a few pieces and subbed them in for the center of a few blocks because I didn't want to chop up all of those cute little mice.

The quilting is an "organic" grid. I have really become of creature of habit lately with my quilting, but it really is my favorite way to quilt. It doesn't require any marking and it gives the quilt a wonderful texture.
The Patti Quilt pattern is still 20% off in my shop through Christmas Day. It might be too late to make a Christmas quilt for this year (unless you are REALLY fast) but the pattern works well for non-Christmas quilts too. I am thinking I might need to make a pink and red valentine version soon ;)
