Pattern of the Week - The Sadie Quilt
If you are looking for a fun pattern that is fat quarter friendly that works with lots of different fabrics, the Sadie Quilt Pattern is for you!
This pattern is one of my favorites for playing with color and contrast — it has lots of movement, works well with modern or traditional fabrics, and it’s one of those designs that looks more complex than it is. It’s great for confident beginners, but still fun and relaxing for more experienced quilters, too.
A Little About the Pattern
I originally designed this way back in the OG Cotton + Steel days — before I was writing patterns. I had a quilt in mind, but couldn’t find a pattern that matched exactly what I wanted, so I just made it myself. Three years later, I turned that design into a full pattern.
Then in 2022, I gave the pattern a refresh: I added extra size options and made the cutting more fabric-efficient, then re-released it with a brand-new cover. This one has become a go-to for me, especially when I’m working with a fabric I’m not quite sure how to use. It plays nice with pretty much everything.
