Let me Introduce You to the April Quilt Pattern!

The April Quilt Pattern is now available, and this one is all about keeping things simple and letting your fabrics do the work.

This quilt is made up of small sashed squares separated by sashing (say that 5 times fast), which creates a grid that feels a little like looking through a window. It’s a straightforward layout, but depending on how you use your fabrics, it can look completely different from one version to the next.

I am working to add more patterns to my shop that are beginner friendly, but that have tons of room for creativity with fabric. These also tend to be quilts that work really well with fabric. I hope you enjoy these patterns as much as I do!

A Good One for Precuts (or Scraps)

This pattern works especially well with a layer cake, which is probably my favorite way to make it. If you sew the squares in the same order you cut them, the prints line up in a way that creates a subtle window-like effect.

It also works really nicely with fat quarters or scraps if you want something more mixed and scrappy. You can keep fabrics grouped within each block or mix everything together — both versions give you a lot of movement, just in different ways.

Layout Options

One of my favorite things about this pattern is how flexible it is:

  • Keep each block one fabric or color for a more structured look

  • Mix fabrics within blocks for a scrappier feel

  • Arrange your colors for a rainbow or ombre layout

  • Or just let everything fall where it may

All of those approaches work with the same basic construction, which makes it easy to customize depending on your fabrics.

Quilt Sizes

The April Quilt Pattern includes instructions for five sizes:

  • Baby (36” x 46”)

  • Lap (67” x 78”)

  • Twin (67” x 88”)

  • Queen (90” x 111”)

  • King (111” x 111”)

If you’re looking for something that’s straightforward to sew but still gives you a lot of flexibility with fabric choices, this is a good one. It’s the kind of project you can keep simple or overthink a little, depending on your mood.

You can find the April Quilt available in paper or PDF pattern in my shop!

I really love this quilt! The first one you made, what line of fabric is that? The colors and prints are fabulous!
LOVE the scrappy one! Would this pattern work with a jelly roll?
