Scrappy Jenny Quilt Pattern made with a mix of colorful fabric scraps and low-volume background fabrics

A Scrappy Jenny Quilt

You know I had to make a scrappy version of the Jenny Quilt Pattern. Instead of trying for a more curated blend of scraps, I just used anything and everything I had on hand and tried to use as many unique prints as possible. The result is a bit chaotic, but more of a controlled chaos and I love how the scrappy background fabric adds some visual interest to the quilt.

I have a habit of saving leftover pieces of low-volume or white background fabrics from various projects, setting them aside just for quilts like this. Mixing different shades of white in the background creates a subtle, textured effect that I adore.

For the backing, I chose a bright and playful Strawberry & Friends print from my stash. Its limited color palette helps balance the busy front of the quilt and adds a touch of calm to the chaos.

I went with my go-to organic grid quilting for this project—it’s simple, effective, and my favorite choice for scrappy quilts. As for the binding, I wanted to use something that had been in my stash for a long time. I ended up choosing a Bonnie & Camille bias stripe print from their April Showers collection (released in 2013, if I remember correctly). The binding’s diagonal stripes paired perfectly with the quilt and brought everything together.

This pattern is a fantastic scrap-buster, especially for those leftover background pieces. I’m already thinking about making another one, maybe with a rainbow theme next time!
